Good morning, Goo
fans! What would Throwback
Thursday be without a little music history?
43 years ago today, Bob Dylan released "Like
A Rolling Stone", which was heralded as the
greatest song of all time in 2004 by Rolling
Stone magazine (no surprise there). Contrary
to popular belief, Muddy Waters' own tune "Rollin'
Stone" was the inspiration behind the name
of a little band called the Rolling Stones, who
the Goo Goo Dolls
supported for a few shows in 1999.
Wow, it's a little early for six degrees of Goo,
but there you go.
First up, for those of you heading out to the
Indianapolis
Motor Speedway this weekend to see the band,
be safe and have a great time! Tickets are still
available at $15 a pop since it's a qualification
day, so if you're in the Indianapolis area, don't
miss this event!
As part of our Summer of
Swag, we're bringing back our
Picture of the Week contest! You may have
noticed it's been MIA for awhile, because...well...damn,
who knows. But it's back! Send in your pictures
to addmypic@absolutegoo.com
to have your Goo Goo Dolls
show pictures placed in our gallery and automatically
be entered for the POTW
(our acronym for the word-challenged) contest.
We'll announce one winner every Monday, maybe
two if we retrieve some really cool stuff from
underneath the couch cushions, and you can win
some cool swag just for sending your pictures
in to our gallery! For more info, or a more entertaining
spin on the same info, check out this post on
the message
board!
For today's Throwback Thursday
installment, we have a brief interview with the
Goos, circa 1995,
when "Only One"
was released and no one had ever heard of "Name."
Click
here to read it!
In honor of "Only
One" being the first single released
from "A Boy Named
Goo", and in honor of our resident
beer pong champion, here's a clip from the Jon
Stewart show of "Only
One" and a bonus of "Naked",
because that's the best way to play beer pong,
or so AG has convinced us.
Don't forget to check the message
board for a heads up about Friday's World
Chat! Mingle with Goo
fans all over the world in a colorful world of
text and smilies - you'll be glad you did!
Time to go, someone thankfully removed the caffeine
I.V., back to the couch. Look, a magnet!
See you guys tomorrow!
