The concerts are part of a new approach to the 59-year-old PGA Tour event in La Quinta, providing music as well as upgraded food and music options to those who buy a $30 single-day golf ticket. The concerts will begin almost immediate after play ends on Friday and Saturday of tournament week. The concert series, to be held on the driving range at PGA West, is presented by H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation.
The CareerBuilder Challenge will be played Jan. 18-21 at three courses in La Quinta, the Stadium Course and Nicklaus Tournament Course at PGA West and La Quinta Country Club. PGA Tour Hall of Famer Phil Mickelson, a two-time winner of the CareerBuilder title, will again be the tournament ambassador and be one of 156 pros in the field of the $5.9 million event. Hudson Swafford is the defending champion.
“We are excited to unveil our golf festival model at this year’s event featuring great food, wine, spirits, music and world class PGA Tour golf,” said Jeff Sanders, executive director of the CareerBuilder Challenge for new operating company Lagardere Sport. “We are stepping up our game this year by bringing in two nights of music.”
The concert series debuted in 2017 with a driving range concert by American indie pop band Fitz and the Tandrums.

The band has recorded 19 top-10 singles and their biggest hit single “Iris” was named the biggest pop radio song of the last 20 years by Billboard magazine. Goo Goo Dolls recently performed at the PGA Tour’s Safeway Open in Napa, another tournament operated by Lagardere.

Daily tickets to the CareerBuilder Challenge PGA Tour event are on sale now and include admission to the tournament, the CareerBuilder Challenge Concert Series as the Vons Fan Pavilion on the 18th green at Stadium Course and two other on-site hospitality venues. There are no additional cover charges or upgraded tickets needed this year for entry into these on course hospitality venues.
