Robby's New InRock Blog!

Hey Hey In Rockers, Wow, It’s August already, how did that happen so fast???? Welcome to The Lobby here in the pages of the mighty In Rock, I’m Robby and thanks for stopping in for a visit to our monthly recap of the goings on in my orbit! Glad to see you back! This month’s edition finds GGDS once again jetting around North America with dates in North Dakota, Michigan, a few shows in Canada and another in the home of The King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, let’s get into it!

We were lucky enough to be invited to play at The National Cherry Festival in Traverse City, Michigan, a small vacation spot on the Great Lakes here in the Midwest of the US. We had a great show and really a cool little town to spend a few days in, it’s a beautiful place for sure. We got to bring home some cherries from the event, which was suspicious in my suitcase for sure, but I got them through security, got them home and made some nice homemade Cherry Jam for my family to enjoy!

The next weekend saw us playing a show at the world-famous Calgary Stampede in Calgary, Alberta in Canada. The Stampede runs for 10 days with over one million visitors per year and features one of the world's largest rodeos, a huge parade, carnival midways, stage shows, concerts, agricultural competitions, and way more. This is the 4th time we performed at this event, all sorts of cowboys, or maybe just weekend cowboys, wandering around town and having a great time. We played with our friends The Gin Blossoms and Canadian mainstays The Crash Test Dummies and once again The Stampede exceeded expectations and left us buzzing!

The next day we headed to Memphis for a show at The Radiens Amphitheater, Memphis is a music town, with Sun Records, The Staxx legacy and all of the bustle of the Beale Street music scene Memphis is really a truly special place to make music. As always the crowd was amped up and ready to hear some songs and as usual made us feel welcome and appreciated, always inspiring.

Then after a few days home it was back into Canada for 2 festivals in Brantford and Sarnia Ontario, in Sarnia we played the Revelry Music Festival with Canadian bands The Trews and Sloan. It was a super-hot, muggy but otherwise perfect day in a dusty field full of beer drinking Canadians singing their hearts out! The Trews and Sloan were really great as well and the Trews joined us the next evening as well with some more Canadian acts at Crew Fest in Brantford before I made the drive across the border after the show to my hometown of Buffalo.

Tonight, I leave for some more dates in Washington and Tennessee before returning home and spending some time working on the MIA Fest 2024 and spending some quality summer time with my family here in Buffalo. Hope you all have a great August, stay cool and make sure to stay hydrated! I’ll be back next month after some more travel and music making and I’ll share it all with you guys here in the pages of IN ROCK!

Talk soon, Peace
