The Goo Goo Dolls are a rock band from Buffalo, New York and were formed in 1986.
They have given us many hit over the years and are remembered for their biggest hit Iris which has been the No 1 top 40 song in America over the last 20 years. The guys have had some changes in personnel over the last 34 years but Rzeznik & Tatak have been the mainstay in the band.
The guys return with EP 21 which is a 4 track piece of music to wet our appetite for forthcoming LP which is in the works at the moment, please sit back as I walk us through this new offering.
As I Am - Heavy strumming from a cool acoustic guitar that gets this surprise EP on the move, soulful strong vocals are oozing towards us as this meaty melodic track unfolds with a cool tone to really get us in the mood going forward.
This is one of those tracks that whisks you off to another place as we feel the emotion flowing from the lyrics that just stop you in your tracks as this thought provoking track has you feeling the rhythm.
Synth tones flow freely through the mid section as this deeply emotional piece of music just grabs you as it takes us all the way to the end.
Feel The Silence - Bluesy style acoustic strums fill the air as this melodic ballad style track comes to life. The vocals have a real smokiness to them as the tone and depth rise to the surface and get us in the mood as this cool track lets us feel the groove as it takes shape. There are cool backing vocals running parallel with the main vocal and this really elevates this track somewhat,
the strumming is just fantastic as it really controls the mood that is running through this awesome track. The whole piece is just a well written well arranged piece of music that shows us the musicianship from this timeless band.
Happiest Of Days - Deep piano tones are oozing from the start as smooth deep vocals come through and really make this track what it is. this is a real deep track that really rises to the surface with soulful emotional vocals that really hit the mark. The piano tones are just incredible as it just breathes life into this smouldering piece of music, we feel the depth of this track as the lyrics unfold and tell a story that will resonate with many folk. There is another side to this band as a full acoustic EP lets us walk a mile in the shoes of these phenomenal musicians.
Bullet Proof Angel - This is a real mellow number as a single piano tone oozes towards us as smooth soulful vocals rise to meet us. The composition is just spectacular as we hear every note and every emotional tone that is coming from this truly unique piece of music, cool smooth backing tones are littered throughout this incredible track as the awesome vocals wash over us and let us feel the depth of this incredible track. We are being treated to a truly special EP that showcases these incredible musicians and all they have in their arsenal.
